West Ham fans sing anti-board songs and carry banners as they march to London Stadium in protest... while stewards inside wear safety goggles
Hundreds of West Ham fans protested against the board outside the London Stadium ahead of their clash with Southampton. The supporters, angry at the way the club is being run, congregated outside Stratford station before making their way to the ground. Once there the supporters, many of whom were carrying banners, marched around the stadium singing anti-board songs. Security inside the ground has been beefed up after trouble flared at the last home match against Burnley on March 10. A security barrier has been erected close to the directors' box, where joint-owner David Sullivan was struck by a coin at the Burnley game. Sullivan will be in the directors' box for the Saints game, but in a seat a few rows back from his usual one.

Comment from other Clubs about the London Athletics Ground;

The London Stadium fiasco and the upstart bubble
Post by Paatiericer Tue Dec 05, 2017 6:28 pm

Regarding West Ham forever blowing bubbles, just how much of a bubble have they blown with regard to the rise and rise of West Ham in London, with respect to the other clubs and the various London boroughs and their taxpayers out of pocket regarding the London Stadium fiasco?

Why have Newham Council been given £750 million football money from the 32 other borough's taxpayers, to try and lift what is a localized club beyond their general fair-to-middling place among the football clubs of the UK (not one league title to boast of or even a second place in the top division.)

One wonders how this story might have panned out in Madrid, if Rayo Vallecano had been on a similar rise with intent to become a supreme football 'super power,' or Salgueiros in Porto from their Paranhos base, or even Partick Thistle in Glasgow.

I wonder how much Spurs are paying to rent Wembley per season and how this compares to West Ham's rent of the London Stadium, perhaps as a guideline, now that the Mayor of London has taken control of the London Stadium until further notice.

If there is to be a rise and rise of a localized London club, then the West End boys of Brentford look better placed than the East End boys of West Ham. After all, they have their own airport regarding their geographical closeness to Heathrow and the chance to hire a 90,000 seat stadium with no apparent history regarding legitimacy of construction and sport-use remit.

It didn't work for Queens Park Rangers at White City nor Queens Park at Hampden, never mind the ill-fated Thames F.C. and their reported 100,000 capacity dog's stadium.

If the London Stadium issue were to unravel further, regarding the various London borough taxpayers and any future legal challenges, then West Ham might find they are without any kind of future, having dispensed with their local base and the Boleyn ground, in fact stuffed forever and back to being what they were before the 60's.

Instead of building fake sand castles behind the new-build super stand, they had enough land to build half-of Wembley anyway (almost.) Regarding other potential expansions of the Boleyn ground, the nearby housing was only constructed in the 60's so there was ample opportunity for development along the lines of Anfield and it wouldn't have been such a big deal to re-think the tube station congestion problem in relation to safety and crowd management.

The fact that they didn't makes one wonder just what kind of club it really is, regarding their fan base and their pretty sand castle construction fantasies.

Certainly not much compared to the Gunners and their massive history and international standing among the world's elite.

Reiver, Nov 6, 2017

West Ham will be begging Millwall for the rights to use their song, "No one likes us, we don't care".

The affection many people had seems to be fading ....... the whole club just seems so shallow & tacky these days.

The stadium fiasco as well the terrible view as an away supporter, the ambushes after games, the stupid bubble machine, the skanky owners have all put a different complexion on the club. It's been made worse by the thousands walking out of games and the booing of a manager they wanted for years. That's the trouble when your tickets are bought up by touts and flogged off to bemused Japanese tourists who probably think the 'London Stadium' must house a top team. The fact that it's a nightmare to get to and away from doesn't help either

The decent West Ham supporters must dearly wish they were back at Upton Park where everything felt right and the atmosphere entirely different.

And now Moyes

WEST HAM ACE READY TO QUIT AFTER FRUSTRATING SEASON
Date: 11th April 2018 at 5:54am
Written by: Josh Challies

West Ham could be set to suffer a huge blow in the transfer market at the end of the season, as they could lose a key attacker.

The Daily Mirror states Mexico international Javier Hernandez remains open to offers taking him away from the London Stadium after struggling to earn consistent starts for the club this year.

An upturn in form has seen Hernandez hit four goals in his last eight Premier League appearances, including the equaliser off the bench in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, but he’s looking to complete 90 minutes regularly and will seek an exit if those chances don’t present themselves.

Signed from Bayer Leverkusen last summer for a fee reported to be worth £16m, the former Manchester United striker has started just 16 games for West Ham this season and has recently found himself benched, with Marko Arnautovic playing centrally.

His eight-goal haul puts him second in West Ham’s scoring charts behind the Austria ace, who leads the way with nine strikes.

West Ham fans blast Kouyate on social media
by Matt Law
11/4/2018 | 07:

Declan Rice and Joe Hart (although criticised as well) were amongst the West Ham United players to be praised by the fans following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

The Hammers followed their huge home victory over Southampton last weekend by picking up an extremely welcome point away to the Premier League champions on Sunday afternoon.

Rice and Hart were both excellent for the visitors, whilst Javier Hernandez was widely praised after coming off the bench to net the West Ham equaliser.

Not all of the club’s players have received kind words on social media, however, with Cheikhou Kouyate taking a lot of criticism for his performance.
The 28-year-old has scored twice and provided three assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season, which is not a bad record for a central midfielder, but his form over the last few months has been very inconsistent indeed.

A selection of the Twitter reaction in relation to the midfielder, who is valued at £10.8m by transfermarkt.co.uk, can be seen below:

One good game does not make a great keeper
Resident Joe Hart hater splashes cool water on England No. 1
By Jackson Schmidtke Apr 10, 2018, 3:30am EDT

West Ham United came away from their match with Chelsea with a vital point in the Hammers survival struggle.

A number of Hammers put in excellent performances against the Premier League giants, and one man stood above the rest for his Man of the Match performance, Joe Hart.

Yes, the England No. 1 made a few good saves but before we give him the England No. 1 shirt and cry to have his loan made permanent, let’s remember, Joe Hart is a horrible signing for West Ham and his one good game this season doesn’t mean he’s a great keeper.

Adrian and Joe Hart are almost the exact same player. Both can make absolutely fantastic saves and can commit completely boneheaded errors, sometimes in the same game.

The Chelsea game is a prime example.

Joe Hart... what're you doing
5:14 PM - Apr 8, 2018

Joe looks like me when I played intramural indoor soccer. Slow to react and refuses to even make an effort to go to ground to make the save. There is no excuse for Joe not making a play at the ball. Sure, it deflected and he was heading the other way initially but he still could make that save. The ball was travelling at like .02 MPH.

Contrast that with his late save on a late header by Oliver Giroud. It was an excellent save don’t get me wrong, but his positioning could have been better and it would have been less theatrical.

He made a few other good saves in the game but if you’re being honest with yourself you know that Adrian could make those saves as well.

Looking a bit deeper into this season’s statistics it becomes clear that Joe Hart is no longer a top tier Premier League or International keeper the way Thibaut Courtois, Hugo Lloris, or David De Gea are.

https://bracethehammer.sbnation.com/2018/4/10/17215830/one-good-game-does-not-make-a-great-keeper

They’ve played basically the same number of games but their stats couldn’t be more different. Joe has let in an appalling 34 goals compared to Adrian’s 24.

Adrian has made 11 more saves and crucially hasn’t committed any errors that lead to goals.

Perhaps the biggest reason Joe Hart is a horrible signing is his salary.

Joe Hart is making 116,000 a week. Adrian is making 50,000 a week. For the production I’ll take Adrian everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.

Sure, West Ham’s defense has been horrible for most of the season. Both Adrian and Hart have played with those bad defenses but Hart has been a sieve compared to Adrian. Throw the salary into the mix and BAM! I TOLD YOU SO!

Joe Hart is a horrible signing

Brady slams Chelsea transfer policy
Posted by Sean Whetstone on April 8, 2018 in News, Whispers

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has taken a pop at Chelsea’s transfer policy.

Brady has slammed Chelsea for letting go Mohamed Salah, Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

“Name three of the outstanding half-dozen players in the league and surely Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku would be among them,” Brady wrote for her Sun column.

“Each of them was tried and inaccurately tested as promising professionals by Chelsea. Sold for a combined total of £58million, currently the lot would be worth around £400m at today’s ludicrous prices. It seems to me Chelsea’s system of signing the best talent and lending it out to all points of the compass is bound by its very voraciousness to have serious weaknesses. To fail to recognise one future great is unfortunate, to do so three times is shocking and has weakened Roman Abramovich’s club by default. With that trio in Conte’s side, he or any half-decent manager would be embracing glory rather than fifth place in the league.”

clubhammer April 8, 2018 at 9:15 pm

This woman is a serious embarrassment to our club.

Dave April 8, 2018 at 3:13 pm
At least they have the scouting system to sign them in the first place, look at our shambles.
The other laughable thing is it’s like we haven’t ever sold anyone, our club sells every single player who has any sign of looking half decent.
Another piece of Brady rubbish which will make Chelsea say we won’t deal with her if we try to sign anyone.
Surprising Sullivan hasn’t said they are all injury prone or too old anyway.

westhammer April 8, 2018 at 12:14 pm
Seriously, who cares what that fraud Brady thinks – about anything TBH.

kevin April 8, 2018 at 1:48 pm
Yeh , dead right , westhammer . In fact a bit of a silly thing to write ahead of this game away to Chelsea . Given their history with Ray Wilkins ( RIP respected player ) and what that will bring to the bridge come the game . She really needs to look at West Ham’s history of selling players . If she doesn’t know how to write constructively she should stop.

whufcfan April 8, 2018 at 12:49 pm
Yeah, and our policy is top notch!

West Ham Fan No 32 April 8, 2018 at 9:22 pm
As mentioned by others look at our record the last two seasons, Arnautovic aside we have been lacking in genuine quality investment, Jaoa Mario looks quality to me anyway but he is a loan, we need to be spending £30m plus on players, in defence and probably in goal.aswell as a genuine defensive midfielder.

Innocuous Sparrow April 8, 2018 at 1:34 pm

Time for London Mayor to stop playing games

Sadiq Khan is playing political games with West Ham United which has no place in football or any other sport.
Our club and game is part of the leisure industry with the aim of bringing people together – by it’s nature politics DIVIDES..
You may remember that following his broadside against West Ham fans following the Burnley match he followed up by making a series of comments that included the incredible and still unsubstantiated claims that over 150 offences were committed.
We have been told that to date the police have still to charge anybody with anything despite his claims!
As a result ClaretandHugh sent 10 questions aimed at helping the situation. Today – 11 DAYS LATER – through a spokesman he responded with a statement answering none of them.

And Tory supporter Sean speaks eh!

Boris the clown is the one who needs to be pulled in not because he is a perpetual liar about most things from millions a week saved for nhs as if a Tory cares about our nhs anyway, but letting this board of his friends get away with millions of tax payers money spent on a stadium that wasn’t meant for much else than the winning of the Olympics coming to London, certainly not football.

Having made the best out of a bad dea,l our board of money grabbing torys, once again saw the opportunity to fill their sky rocket to the brim not letting the sensible idea of moving and building a football stadium that our supporters would want which of course would mean a sixty thousand stadia that costs a fortune to put up just like spurs and arsenal and soon Chelsea will do.

Hell even Tony fernandes is building a new one for QPR. So with housing replacing our Boleyn ground sold and a freebie on the OS it’s a great life for our three lovable billionaires. Only the script as our supporters are not stupid other than seans support see through this little business deal and show up to cause a huge problem.

Answer is simple sell up in summer and get out of our club forever.

Keep lòoking into this lots finances Mr Khan and maybe your find some worms coming out.

Oh and please support a London club not a northern one like Liverpool unless you want to be mayor somewhere else.

West Ham's Andy Carroll message backfires spectacularly as fans turn on injury-prone striker
Damien Lucas
@damienlucas
10th April 2018.

Andy Carroll is fast becoming a forgotten man at West Ham United and indeed the Premier League.

Injury-prone Carroll has played just 14 games for West Ham this season, scoring only two goals - albeit two very important goals in a win over West Bromwich Albion.

The big Geordie has played only 124 matches for the Hammers in six seasons and netting just 32 goals in that time.

While nobody doubts Carroll's quality and commitment when he takes to the field fully fit, question marks over his commitment off the pitch and his injury record are a huge source of frustration for the club and its fans.

West Ham simply cannot rely on injury-prone striker former England man anymore and have wasted years trying to build teams to get the best out of his attributes.

Carroll has become little more than an expensive bonus for West Ham.

When he is fit and firing there are not many better all-round forwards in the Premier League. But that is half the problem, he very rarely is.

And his former teammate Craig Bellamy gave a fascinating insight to Sky Sports The Debate which suggests he is not making the most of his career and talent, as reported previously by HITC.com here.

It now appears fans' patience with Carroll is finally running out if reactions to a well-intentioned post on Twitter by the club's media team are anything to go by.

The Hammers posted a video of the striker scoring a memorable hat-trick against Arsenal saying: "Andy Carroll at his absolute best two years ago today."

The reaction was very revealing with many fans calling for the striker to be sold this summer so both parties can move on from what has been a very costly experience for the Hammers.

West Ham fans react to Cheikhou Kouyate's display against Chelsea
Jordan Harris
@JordanHarris811
9th April 2018.

West Ham United picked up a hugely impressive point at Stamford Bridge, but not all of their players impressed.

It may have been another afternoon that saw West Ham's survival hopes boosted, but not every player managed to impress the Irons supporters on Twitter with their displays in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

David Moyes' men took a giant step towards staying in the Premier League last weekend after they thrashed Southampton at the London Stadium to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom three. And while they did not manage to follow that game up with a win at Stamford Bridge, the Hammers will surely be delighted with the point that saw them extend the gap between themselves and the Saints even further.

It was a tough afternoon for Moyes' side. Chelsea applied most of the pressure throughout the contest and Marko Arnautovic spent much of the game cutting a lonely figure up front. But Javier Hernandez equalised late on to ensure that it finished level.

It was a tremendous rearguard performance from West Ham with a number of their defensive players doing extremely well to frustrate Chelsea and often limit the home side to efforts from around the edge the box. And when they did break through, Joe Hart was normally able to produce a fantastic stop.

But while many of the players will expect the plaudits to be coming their way, it appears that a large section of the fans were not impressed by Cheikhou Kouyate's display against the Blues.

Some supporters actually thought the midfielder did really well, but the majority seem to have been left disappointed with his efforts in the middle of the park, with some suggesting that he needs to be dropped or even sold after losing the battle.

Here is what some of the West Ham fans made of Kouyate's display...

Hart in, Hernandez out: West Ham fans rage at Moyes’ team selection
‘Waste of space’ – West Ham fans rage at Moyes ahead of Chelsea clash
by Sam Preston @SamJPreston
8/4/2018 | 03:58pm

David Moyes may view West Ham’s trip to face Stamford Bridge in Sunday’s London derby as something of a free hit.

There was much more pressure on the Hammers last weekend, their biggest game of the season as they hosted relegation rivals Southampton.

Moyes’ men flew out of the blocks, establishing a 3-0 lead by half-time and making a mockery of the pressure that had been bubbling up for three week break since their last match, the home defeat to Burnley by the same scoreline.

That alleviated some of the relegation tension that had engulfed the club and should allow the Irons to make the trip from West to East London with designs on exploiting any lack of confidence in the Chelsea ranks following their 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Tottenham last time out.

Joe Hart got the nod but Javier Hernandez was not so fortunate and we’ve taken a closer look at the best of the West Ham fans’ reaction…

West Ham fans react to reports linking David Moyes with new contract
‘Madness’, ‘no ambition’: West Ham fans react to contract reports
Jordan Harris
@JordanHarris811
5th April 2018

West Ham United reportedly plan to offer David Moyes a new long-term contract after their Premier League survival hopes were boosted.

West Ham fans have been reacting on Twitter to the reports that recently emerged from the Daily Mirror that suggested that the Hammers board were planning to hand David Moyes a new long-term deal at the London Stadium.

Moyes has endured an eventful spell in charge of the Irons since signing a deal until the end of the season in the wake of Slaven Bilic's departure.

The low point undoubtedly came just before the international break in the home clash with Burnley, but three weeks later and the situation looks significantly brighter after they thrashed relegation rivals Southampton.

The victory moved the Hammers five points clear of the bottom three and they boast a game in hand over several of the sides below them in the table so can arguably feel fairly confident that they should have enough to avoid getting sucked back into the battle to beat the drop.

The Mirror reports that the board have now come to the conclusion that Moyes is the right man to take the club forward in the long-term and thus, plan to offer him a new contract in the summer - and he is also keen to remain in the job provided that they stay up. He has already started scouting players for the summer.

However, while there is some support for the job that Moyes has done, a large majority of the fans on social media are disappointed by the reports as they feel that keeping the Scotsman represents a lack of ambition given where the team currently are in the table.

They feel that the club should be aiming their sights higher if they want to move themselves away from the relegation battle next season, while others have a lot of sympathy for the circumstances that Moyes has had to deal with and feel that he deserves the chance to get a summer window under his belt.

Here is the best of the reaction...

'No ambition' & 'I will get behind it' - West Ham fans are split over David Moyes reports
Latest West Ham news includes fan reaction to reports regarding David Moyes
BY TASHAN DENIRAN-ALLEYNE
23:00, 5 APR 2018

Reports suggesting West Ham United are preparing to offer David Moyes a new contract hasn't gone down too well amongst some supporters.

According to The Mirror, the Hammers are set to hold their annual review in the summer, and they already believe Moyes is the man to take them forward following his decent work at the London Stadium since being appointed back in November.

The ex-Everton & Manchester United manager, who contracted to the east London outfit, until the end of the current campaign after succeeding the sacked Slaven Bilic, has taken Irons out of the drop zone and up to 14th in the Premier League table - five points clear of the dreaded dotted line, with a game in hand on four of the clubs below them.

He's made it clear that he would like to stay on past this season — but only if he keeps them up - and it would appear that the club's hierachy are pleased with the job he's done thus far.

The report states that the board are particularly pleased with Moyes’ approach to discipline and the response from the players since his arrival.

Furthermore, the likes of Joe Hart, Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonno have all responded well to the changes the Scotsman has made across the past six months.

However, some Irons fans aren't too keen on the 54-year-old being offered a contract extension, while others are warming to the idea.

Take a look at some of the standout responses on Twitter to the report....

Last week Moyes stated his intention to manage in the Premier League next season - ideally with the Hammers: “I want a club I can move forward and I want a club which gives us every opportunity to do that," he told reporters.

“There’s no reason not to stay, but I want the club in the Premier League. It’s a big club, but I think it can get bigger.

"By having 60,000 people coming to the game, giving yourself that opportunity, you give yourself a real chance of attracting players – and obviously we’re in London.

“But I think people want to see that there’s a stability to the club as well in the way things are being done. So until I get a position we are in the Premier League then after that then let’s sit down and have the conversations.

"At the moment I’m trying to focus totally on staying in the league.”

The Hammers are back in action on Sunday when they make the short trip across London to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

'No confidence in the board'
By Simon Stone BBC Sport 31 Mar 2018.
Just after noon, at the end of a two-hour meeting in a cafe-bar close to London Stadium, the West Ham United Independent Supporters Association decided upon a course of action.

"We were promised a world-class team in a world-class stadium," said a statement. "Today the members of the WHUISA that were present voted unanimously in a vote of no confidence in the current board of West Ham United to deliver this.

"We will therefore launch a concerted 'UNITED Campaign for Change' and will announce further details shortly.

RECALLING David Sullivan’s 2013 Christmas message to West Ham supporters;

"Getting the Olympic Stadium, I think will change the future of the Club and increase our fan base, by hundreds of thousands of supporters.

I think that getting the Olympic Stadium for the Club is one of the most important things that we have done this year and maybe in the history of the Club and it will do so much for supporters, because the facilities are so much better than they are at Upton Park.

The communication links to Stratford are vastly better than they are at Upton Park.

Everything at the Olympic Stadium will be better. The facilities, so much better, whether it is loos, bars, TVs, erm, it will just be on another level.

More importantly the Olympic Stadium will attract better players. If we are perceived as a big Club, with a great Stadium, erm, in the heart of London, erm, a lot of foreign players, who might not have come to us, wouldn’t be thinking of coming to us, will be attracted to come to West Ham. So we are very confident that when we get the Stadium, that we will have a better team than we have now."

I have done my best to transcribe it from the You Tube clip, as it is relevant to the discussions on this WHO thread.

Just FOUR years LATER;

West Ham financial gulf to Spurs widens
Posted by Sean Whetstone on April 4, 2018 in News, Whispers
Spurs announced record turnover yesterday for last season totalling £306m with a wage bill of £127m and a gross profit of over £117m. The North London club earned over £150m in TV money with a further £44m in Champions League prize money and £5m in prize money from a domestic cup run while ticket revenue reduced by £3m in the last season at White Hart Lane due to lowered capacity. Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy doubled his own salary from under £3m to over £6m per year.
The financial gulf between West Ham and Spurs has grown from £68m in 2016 to over £123m in 2017. It is really a case of the richest football clubs getting richer.
West Ham announced record turnover of £183m last month up from £142m in 2016, however, Spurs new figures of £306m was up from £210m in 2016 an increase of £96m!
Chelsea recorded revenue of £361m last season with Arsenal’s turnover close to £423m. When it comes to financial might West Ham will remain in fourth place in London for the foreseeable future. The London Stadium will make little difference in financial terms and the Hammers are a long way off from the £300m+ club.

Just FOUR years LATER, PROBLEMS emerging of keeping players;

West Ham United losing Domingos Quina would be blow to club's board
John Verrall
@JohnVerrall

West Ham United are set to face a battle to keep hold of Domingos Quina in the summer.

According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham United are facing a battle to keep hold of Domingos Quina in the summer.

Manchester United and Liverpool are both lining up to sign Quina, who has caught the eye with his performances in the Hammers’ development side this season.

And if West Ham fail to keep hold of Quina, the board will only come in for more criticism.

West Ham’s move to the London Stadium was controversial at the time, and is becoming a source of even greater frustration, due to the lack of progress the club has made in recent times.

West Ham’s board have been criticised for showing a lack of ambition, and losing Quina would only add fuel to the supporters’ argument.

If West Ham are unable to keep hold of their brightest prospects, then David Moyes’ side cannot hold out much hope of becoming a real force in the top tier. And West Ham’s board must do everything in their power to keep hold of Quina, as they could face a fierce backlash if he does depart.

Just FOUR years LATER, there is the ‘Andy Carroll soap opera’ that rumbles on and on…

West Ham fans debate Carroll future
by Matt Law
4/4/2018 | 11:55am

Andy Carroll has only made 12 Premier League appearances during what has been a frustrating 2017-18 campaign for the West Ham United forward.

Carroll missed the beginning of the season with a groin problem, and has been on the sidelines since the start of 2018 with an ankle injury.

It is thought that the centre-forward, who is valued at £9m by transfermarkt.co.uk, could return to action later this month, which would be a welcome boost for a West Ham team that are not yet safe from the drop.

Carroll has managed 32 goals and 18 assists in his 128 West Ham appearances since joining the London club from Liverpool.

He actually scored seven times in 18 Premier League appearances last term, but has managed just two league goals this season, and cannot seem to stay fit.

The West Ham supporters have been debating the future of the 29-year-old, and it would be fair to say that many want the striker, who was linked with Chelsea during the January transfer window, to be sold at the end of the season.

Paragraph 5: “Once again, this season, our second at the London Stadium, we know will bring challenges, but we continue to believe we will deliver both on and off the pitch by investing in the team, the brand and managing the business well. Cleansing of West Ham Fan Base. (“…our supporters, who frankly are the best in the world.” David Sullivan)
I watched Saturdays match in a bar. There were about 80 of us in there.all of us regular committed West Ham fans over the last 40 years, quite a few of us accompanied with our now grown up children. Most of us season ticket holders for decades. We weren't all from East London,Essex or Kent. There were friends from the Shires ,from Southampton, from Telford, Wales and Scotland.

We all have a common love for West Ham United.Of the 80 about 30 went in to the match and about 50 no longer go in to the London Stadium.many of those 50 still go to away matches.Of those that still go in half do not intend to renew and will stop going in until GSB are gone.So there you a have it.A whole section of some of our most fanatical fans gone.

Will we be replaced by the season ticket waiting list.-Perhaps,perhaps not. Those few that remain will be very sorry that we have packed it in.The new supporters will be pleased to see the back of us.That is all.

Re: Cleansing of West Ham Fan Base. (“…our supporters, who frankly are the best in the world.” David Sullivan)
I don't think this is about change that much. I doubt Tottenham fans will not be rioting over moving to their new ground as an example, nor, I suspect will Everton or Chelsea fans. People accept that things move on, and as long as they are provided with something in return that is as good as what they are leaving, they accept the difference.

This is principally about people realising that they've been lied to and reacting to that. We've been lied to and find ourselves in a ground which for many simply isn't fit for purpose and diminishes or even ruins an experience which has been part of the fabric of their lives. It's the ground, that fucking bowl in the middle of nowhere which is the main problem.

Many will put up with it and moan to whatever degree, a small number actually like it, and many will just drop out completely. Once the kids are older I'm in the latter camp, but it's got nothing to do with being unable or unwilling to change, and everything to do with the intrinsic shitness of that bowl as a football stadium.

The Board's response to people realising they've been lied to has been to try and suppress and alienate the traditional fanbase by various means in the belief that a more docile fan on the season ticket waiting list will replace them. Clearly there is some merit in that strategy.

“Beavis Danzig wrote:the pressure is off mate. been to every amble/protest, was there up at the directors box, did everything i could bar running on the pitch. a win is the opiate of the masses.”

I’ve never viewed the protest movement as anything other than a process that could take years. If we’d lost against Soton and the ground had exploded, I don’t think it necessarily would have improved anything. We’d just have been relegated and would have had even less money to spend on players and fixing the issues with the stadium.

There’s no guarantee that GSB would have sold the club. We were relegated in much worse circumstances - losing half a potential England team - but Brown didn’t sell after the relegation.

Even if GSB was completely genuine right now about spending big in the transfer market and fixing some of the issues surrounding the stadium, they can’t do anything until the transfer window opens and plans are made for improving the stadium. Let’s judge them on their response. If they continue to ignore the anger of the fans, then the protest movement will pick up steam again.

I thought everyone was in good spirits, but more importantly there was a mix of people there showing that there is dissatisfaction across the board, who wanted to be with like minded fans who are tired of the lies and want to try and change things.

More importantly did anyone get a recording of the bloke singing the anti board song walking through the underpass that got a round of applause, as that cracked me up!

Did Crystal Palace get lucky escape as West Ham fans slam Hugill deal
Danny Owen
@danny8195

West Ham United beat Premier League rivals Crystal Palace to the last-gasp signing of Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill in January.

Crystal Palace might have had a lucky escape with Jordan Hugill.

As reported by the BBC, the Eagles lost out to West Ham United on January’s transfer deadline day as the Preston striker completed his £10 million move to the London Stadium.

But while Palace’s own lack of goals could yet cost them their Premier League status, Hugill has done very little at West Ham to suggest that he will play a major part in the relegation battle.

The striker, who scored a far from prolific eight times in 26 starts for Preston in the first half of the season, has managed just 22 minutes of league football for West Ham spread across three substitute appearances.

And, when asked why the Middlesbrough-born front man has struggled to make any kind of impression in claret and blue, Hammers fans have been fairly unequivocal.

Hugill, some believe, was simply an affordable panic buy with the window creaking shut, after Diafra Sakho had completed his return to Ligue 1 and left David Moyes rather short of goal-scoring options.

Others, however, go as far as to claim that Hugill was signed in preparation for West Ham’s possible relegation to the Championship.

One thing is for certain, however: Crystal Palace might just have saved themselves £10million.

Total waste of money, obviously fuelled by a knee jerk reaction by the owners for lack of transfer activity in Jan. Nothing against the boy, and financially he’s set up, but hes not going to set the world alight, although a part of me wants to see more of him play.

‘10% OF THE PLAYER HE WAS’, ‘I’D TAKE OFFERS’ – WEST HAM FANS REACT BRUTALLY TO SKY BOMBSHELL

West Ham fans took to Twitter to declare their lack of sympathy after it emerged that winger Michail Antonio is set to miss the rest of the season.

Sky Sports claim on their website that the winger, 28, will be sidelined for the Hammers’ final seven matches of the season with the hamstring injury he suffered in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Southampton.

The right-winger left the pitch in tears after breaking down just 10 minutes into the clash at the London Stadium.

Sky Sports’ report that Antonio underwent a scan on Sunday and the feedback is shattering for the player, who has scored just three goals from 20 matches this season.

Antonio has suffered from countless injuries in recent seasons, including calf and rib problems in the current campaign, and a torn hamstring that required surgery last April.

West Ham fans have demonstrated a startling lack of sympathy to a once revered player.

One supporter tweeted that injury-ravaged Andy Carroll would have some company again, while another said Antonio must be offloaded in the summer.

Here is a selection of their best messages on Twitter:

Michail Antonio has been ruled out of West Ham's remaining Premier League games due to a hamstring injury.

West Ham United secured a vital victory over the weekend, handing Southampton a 3-0 defeat at the London Stadium to go five points and four places clear of relegation.

However, an injury to Michail Antonio eight minutes into Saturday's game cast a shadow over the excellent result and BBC Sport report that the winger has played his last game of the season.

BREAKING: West Ham winger Michail Antonio to miss rest of season with hamstring injury, according to Sky sources. #SSN
10:06 AM - Apr 2, 2018

The 28-year-old only recently returned to action in February after sustaining a groin injury two days to Christmas.

Antonio has already had two stints on the injury sideline this term, as a hamstring injury he sustained last April ruled him out of pre-season preparations, while he also missed a month (six games) to a rib injury he suffered two months into the campaign.

The winger has featured in 21 Premier League games this term, but will now miss the remaining seven of West Ham's campaign.

Antonio emerged as the Hammer of the Year for last season after he contributed nine league goals and five assists to the club's campaign.

The former Nottingham Forest man scored eight league goals and assisted four during his debut campaign in 2015-16, but his return of three league goals and an assist this term indicates that his injury woes have gotten the better of his form.

Despite Antonio's lack of sharpness in front of goal, West Ham's run-in would have been boosted by his presence in the squad.

Hammers fans are divided in their opinions regarding the forward's injury, and some of their Tweets below say it all.

‘The London Stadium was supposed to be the land of milk and honey’
West Ham supporters saw their side record a crucial win over Southampton but dissatisfaction with the board still runs high
Paul MacInnes at the London Stadium
Sun 1 Apr 2018 19.18 BST

Danny, 52, Croydon
The fans are protesting because they’ve had enough. We’ve been lied to systematically since we moved here. This was supposed to be the land of milk and honey but it’s hardly turned out that way. The ground is a joke. We’ve had a net spend of about £23m. We moved away from Upton Park but what we’ve seen in the last two or three years ... it’s just lies, lies, lies.

The press painted what happened at the Burnley match like they were disgusting scenes. But I’ve been supporting West Ham for 45 years and I’ve seen far worse. There were a handful of people who ran on the pitch and I know it’s not allowed, but life bans? That’s a bit extreme. I suppose that’s the way it is nowadays, though.

Programme seller, 19
Each game the fans come up to me and they’re not happy. They’re not expecting to win. They think the same thing is going to happen over and over and that everything will stay the same. If they do win, fans tend to think it’s a fluke.

I’ve only worked at the London Stadium, not at Upton Park, but it’s a nice place to work. I’ve never had people be rude to me. They’re quite nice when they come to me. But I wouldn’t say it’s as positive inside the stadium as you’d expect. They’re a big club and you’d expect that people would enjoy coming. But maybe it’s a chore for them now. It’s like they have to come because they’ve got a season ticket or something. They’re not really enjoying games much, I think. The club should listen to the fans. Maybe they should spend more money on players like they ask them to.

VIDEO: What's going on at West Ham? – video
Banner ($old a dream given a nightmare)

Lesley, late 60s, Chalfont St Peter
We are realists; we had to move. The way that the finances are within football today we couldn’t survive in a smaller ground. We’re still in the East End. I don’t understand it. You’ve got to move on in life, therefore if it has changed you’ve got to accept that change and deal with it.

I wouldn’t go to the old ground because I didn’t like the proximity of all the other people, I couldn’t see properly. But I love it here. I’m comfortable, I’m in among people that are all pleasant. We’ve joined a nice club where we can sit down and have a couple of drinks and something to eat before the match. You couldn’t do that at Upton Park because those places didn’t exist. If the team won more matches, the atmosphere would be entirely different. The crowd would be much happier. So let’s move on.

Kevin, 50, Wanstead
There’s a little bit of frustration with the profits made and the distribution of those profits. I think it’s exacerbated now by David Sullivan’s tax situation [Sullivan was found to have used the club to avoid paying £700,000 tax at a recent tribunal]. That doesn’t help the situation. Karren Brady is a bit of an issue because I don’t think she was liked before she came and her aloofness doesn’t help.

I’ve got a lot of time for David Gold. He was born on Green Street, he played for the unders, he loves West Ham. But Gold is tainted by his association with Sullivan. As far as the fans are concerned, it’s a very different atmosphere purely because there aren’t many loyal West Ham supporters. If this was at Upton Park, we wouldn’t be in this situation. Season ticket renewals are coming up and the club know the records of who used to be at Upton Park and who didn’t. They should talk to those people about where they’re sitting and the atmosphere. If you get a few of the old boys around the newbies, it would be different.

Charlie, 27, Leytonstone
The atmosphere is absolutely toxic. I’m on the side of the fans but not in the way they go about showing it. There are fights breaking out in the crowd; there’s so much animosity towards the board. It’s a very very bad situation to be in. Throwing coins at people [as happened to Sullivan during the Burnley match] is just not on.

There’s not much identity at the stadium. It was sold on a bit of a promise: that you’d be close to the pitch and there would be a good atmosphere. But it’s not been great. On the other hand, it has become more accessible and they’ve priced it very well. You can get kids’ season tickets for £100, which is great. The fans are as much to blame as the owners really for the way they’ve behaved.

One thing I would say is that the social media activity of the board is horrific. They linked themselves with [Real Madrid’s] Benzema the other day. Get real. We’re not going to buy a player like that. So they probably need to think about the way they present the club on social media and ultimately, especially if we go down, they probably need to sell up and go.

1000 fans marching from Stratford Station in the pissing rain with minimum advertisement beforehand is not an insignificant amount for a protest march.

If it was widely accepted "200" made such a racket inside the stadium underneath them, 5 times that is numbers swelling not reducing.

And that's just the ones that bothered to make the effort, not taking into account thousands of others who think the same but didn't for whatever reason attend the march.

LLDC Offers Statue Olive Branch

Filed: Saturday, 31st March 2018
By: Staff Writer D

Stadium owners the London Legacy Development Corporation have made the first move in an attempt to improve relations with the club.

With the relationship between the Club and the stadium owners currently strained, LLDC have attempted to improve the atmosphere between the two parties by paying for five fibre-glass busts to be erected in honour of former players around the stadium walkway – with more to come.

A spokesman for Mayor Sadiq Khan, whose office now has ultimate responsibility for the stadium, said: “We realise that attempts to ‘West Ham-ify” the stadium have only been partially successful…”

At least protesting this way gets a point across without causing mayhem on the pitch. The players put a shift in today, yes about time, now they know what they need to do - turn up for a change.

West Ham Fans Stage Protest March Before Southampton Clash

West Ham supporters staged a protest march against the Premier League club’s beleaguered owners before the match against Southampton on Saturday.

Hammers fans are furious at the way the club has been run following the move from their historic Upton Park ground to the unpopular Olympic Stadium in east London.

They congregated outside Stratford station before making their way to the ground.

The supporters, many of whom were carrying banners, marched around the stadium singing anti-board songs.

West Ham are languishing close to the Premier League relegation zone and ill-feeling among fans has boiled over in recent weeks.

Security inside the ground has been beefed up after serious crowd disturbances tarnished West Ham’s last home match against Burnley on March 10.

Fans invaded the pitch during the defeat, while others threw missiles toward West Ham co-owners David Sullivan, who was struck by a coin, and David Gold. They were forced to flee their seats.

In response to those incidents, a security barrier has been erected close to the directors’ box.

Sullivan will be in the directors’ box for the Saints game, but in a seat a few rows back from his usual one.

West Ham fans protest march ahead of Premier League clash against Southampton
It's not quite on the scale originally hoped but a demonstration went ahead

UPDATED14:14, 31 MAR 2018

Estimates of between 400 and 1000 West Ham fans got together and marched to the London Stadium in protest to the West Ham board of directors ahead of the game against Southampton.

A protest was originally planned before the Burnley game three weeks ago but was called off after the Real West Ham Fans Action Group - who have now dropped the "Action Group" from their title - came to a compromise with the Hammers owners.

However, ahead of the Saints game, other supporters groups and the Real West Ham fans came together to march to the stadium ahead of the relegation six-pointer at Stratford.

It was certainly not on the scale that was originally planned for three weeks ago, when thousands were expected to attend before it was soddenly shelved following a meeting between RWHFAG and Hammers vice-chairman Karren Brady.

The low-key demonstration took place and passed off without any incident according to eye-witnesses.

A spokesman for the RWHFG told football.london: "We are supporting the static protest for two core reasons - to demonstrate to the board that our issues are with the way the club is run - we are NOT protesting against the team AND to allow supporters to vent their frustrations and ire lawfully before the game so that everyone can concentrate solely on getting behind the team during the game.

Fans take to the streets for anti-Board demos
Filed: Saturday, 31st March 2018
By: Staff Writer

Several hundred supporters have partaken in two separate anti-Board demonstrations ahead of this afternoon's Premier League match against Southampton.

The first group set off from Stratford Park at 12.30pm and later met a second party of suppporters at Stratford main station, shortly after 1pm, before marching towards the Olympic Stadium together.

It is estimated that just shy of a thousand supporters were involved in the two rallies, instigated in order to maintain pressure on the club's unpopular management team, including owners David Sullivan and Davod Gold plus vice chair Karren Brady.

Meanwhile a third gathering of supporters met at a WHUISA meeting this lunchtime, where a vote of no confidence was passed in the Board of Directors by those in attendance.

* For clarification purposes, KUMB.com were not involved in either of the protests that took place today.

Today I'm protesting, I 'm protesting against the board. I'm a ST holder and regular away fan. I'm doing this for me and my son, so he has a future supporting this club. I'll meet at 1pm and shout sing and show my banner. I'm protesting to show my feelings to the board. I'm not protesting under a group or a banner, I'm protesting as a West Ham fan. I hope there's big numbers - Sullivan said it's only a small minority who want him out...lets show him how wrong he is.

But, once inside the ground, even if we go a goal down...for today, lets really get behind the team for 90 minutes. And next home game we go again, and again until GSB get the message that they ARE NOT WANTED.

At least 2-2.5k walking between Stratford and the stadium today. Considering it was only broadcast over social media was a good turnout. Peaceful atmosphere all round.

Now to get behind the team

Gotta admit when I first rocked up at Stratford park I'd seen bigger bus queues and questioned whether it was worth the effort. But as soon as we trudged in the pissing rain to Stratford station forecourt met by a much sizeable crowd heading to the Stadium it was well worth it in the end. Good old sing song and camaraderie before finally giving it by the directors entrance I'm sure they heard.

Then we all did our bit from first whistle to the last to show the world we know better than anyone how to back the Team perfectly fine thank you without any help.

I did try starting a sack the board chant after a couple of goals down but kept getting drowned out with the usual generic chanting which I understand. I wish how a did sing a few once we were winning to show we ain't fair weather and only got the ****hole when we lose which isn't the case at all.

it's not that they want everyone onside, it's gone beyond that with statements like this.

they are seeking to make villains of anyone who does protest in the hope that those subscribing to the propaganda sort them out.

we had STB say you aren't genuine west ham if you protest in the ground, we've got moyes saying that it's your fault if good players don't want to come here.

it's divide and conquer and it's on page one of the GSB playbook.

Did the fans offer a pittance for players and not even deliver that?
Did the fans promise to sign world beaters and not get any of them?
Did the fans promise world class and deliver a 37 year old and a non scoring, non playing striker?
Did the fans not bother tracking back and watch from afar whilst we conceded? (Well, yes, in terms of the latter - given the majority are seated half a mile away from the action...)
Did the fans receive a fortune in wages and a holiday in the sun for doing nothing resembling their job?
Did the fans pick a disgruntled right winger as a left back?
Did the fans sell, rather than buy, to weaken the squad?
There are a litany if such questions and none of them involve the blame falling on the fans.

Report: Sullivan moved for Saints game
Posted by Hugh5outhon1895 on March 31, 2018 in News, Whispers

David Sullivan is being reported this morning as being set to abandon his seat in the West Ham directors’ box this afternoon.

The Sun claims he is being moved from the front row to a ‘safe zone’ for today’s match against Southampton.

A Hammers insider is claimed to have told the ‘paper that “Mr Sullivan is upset about this.”

And he allegedly added: “He is being moved to the back row from the front to avoid antagonising the supporters.

“It is a sad situation but he just wants the game to pass off peacefully so the team can do its best.”

Security has been beefed up to the ultimate degree as the Irons set about taking a major step towards securing their Premier League safety.

Safety barriers have now been erected to provide an ‘exclusion zone’ below where Sullivan and his fellow chairman David Gold normally sit as the club look to avoid any form of trouble.

West Ham fans furious over new security measures
by Ben Goodwin BGinge8
30/3/2018 | 05:08pm

West Ham fans are once again furious with their owners, after the club announced new security measures at the London Stadium.

Hammers’ fans were angered last week when the club issued lifetime stadium bans to five fans for the protests during the loss to Burnley.

Of course, plenty of fans were disappointed by the manner of the some of the protests, but the message of the protests was something nearly every fan could agree on.

Now the club have announced new security measures at the ground, which includes security gates throughout the concourse and on the bridges in the lower tier.

Fans gathered on the bridge in front of the director’s box last time out to harass the club’s owners, and now fans feel that the new security measures are more focused on protecting the men in charge than the fans in the stands.

West Ham host Southampton on Saturday, which will be absolutely massive in the race for Premier League survival.

Following a rallying cry from captain Mark Noble earlier this week, the club has asked fans to unite and get behind the team.

West Ham ramp up security for Saints match after ugly scenes at London Stadium

West Ham have given further details of the enhanced security measures put in place for Saturday's Premier League game against Southampton at the London Stadium.

The Hammers' last home game against Burnley on March 10 was marred by a number of crowd disturbances.

Five fans invaded the pitch while co-owner David Sullivan was struck by a coin after a protest in front of the directors' box turned nasty. A number of banning orders have since been issued and more are expected to follow.

The club are now taking steps to avoid any repeat and have announced that there will be an increased police and security personnel presence this weekend. Additional security gates have also been installed to limit fans' movements around the stadium.

The announcements follow reports earlier in the week that a security barrier would be erected to prevent supporters getting too close to the directors' box.

amazing, they front this the cunts, but not a 40,000 peaceful demonstration thorough the heart of london taking in downing street

communist, climate change, lesbian, anti-white, cunts

get a real job, sponging wankers

have a nice day

I wouldn't mind so much if they mentioned that it wouldn't cost a penny if those two cunts didn't show up.

It IS blatantly political though.
As Gonzo mentioned on C.o.T, Brady's polar poltical ambitions clearly doesn't help and obviously her and Khan detest each other.

Cunt vs Cunt in my eyes.

FSF blast Mayor's false report
Filed: Friday, 30th March 2018
By: Staff Writer

The Football Supporters' Federation have responded to reports that incorrectly reported the number of arrests and incidents which occurred during the recent West Ham v Burnley match.

Following the match and a subsequent meeting of the local Safety Advisory Board (SAB), London Mayor Sadiq Khan falsely claimed that there has been "150 incidents of trouble".

He also insisted that the disruptions during the game were part of an organised plot by "a known group of individuals" - even though it is virtually impossible for most supporters to receive a phone signal inside the stadium.

Following Khan's wild and unsubstantiated claims, both the Met police and West Ham United confirmed that the details had not been supplied them - whilst representatives of stadium operators LS185 refused to comment.

And police have since confirmed that there were actually a total of 41 recorded incidents on the day, incidents that included the releasing of balloons and a missing child; considerably less than the figure given to Khan.

Posting on twitter this morning in response to Khan's comments, the FSF's Amanda Jacks hit out at the unnamed sources who provided the false figures.

"The shift from 150 incidents at the West Ham v Burnley game including 40 assaults and accusations of conspiracy that were publicly condemned by London’s Mayor, to a police-recognised 41 incidents including the release of black balloons and a missing child is really quite something," she wrote.

West Ham face Southampton at the Olympic Stadium tomorrow, the first time the arena has been used to host football since the Burnley clash. Supporters are planning at least two anti-Board demonstrations before the game.

First they came for Gianfranco Zola, but, he was a cones'n'bibs merchant with a Chelsea past

Then, they came for Scott Parker, but he wasn't trying anymore and we needed the money

So, they came for Avram Grant, and everyone felt he needed putting out his misery really anyway

Next, Sam, the most expensive English manager in Prem history

Carlton, until we needed him again

The Boleyn next, with all the razzle dazzle blinding them

Payet, who'd played his way sensationally back into his country's excellent side

Bilic, who soldiered on when most men would have had proper time off to get over surgery

Noble, Mr Local, who went all Robocop vs Burnley, and now

Sir Trevor Brooking...

What's left to support at this tired old club?

In the 70's and 80's before the days of Ex announcing our line up in advance of a game, you would hear grown men wailing when it was announced that Sir Trev wasn't playing - He was that good. I got to work with him for a few years whilst he was at the FA and he was exactly how I'd imagined - a thoroughly decent guy and absolute gentleman. It was great to meet your boyhood hero and not feel in any way disappointed.

I'm therefore gutted that these absolute arseholes who own our club, together with their permanently unleashed bitch have used him in this way. I'm also gutted that he has allowed this to happen. Calling for 'in stadium unity and support' is one thing. But that whole piece was straight out of Brady's mouth and he should have had the balls to say no.

West Ham v Southampton: Extra security for London Stadium game to cost taxpayers £60,000
By Simon Stone
BBC Sport
About £60,000 of taxpayers' money will be used to pay for increased security at West Ham's home Premier League match against Southampton on Saturday.

The match will be the first at London Stadium since trouble flared at the 3-0 defeat by Burnley on 10 March.

Twenty fans were given life bans, including four for invading the pitch.

A substantially increased security presence includes measures to stop fans getting in front of the directors' box as occurred during the Burnley game.

Under the terms of the Hammers' 99-year lease at the former Olympic Stadium - agreed by former London Mayor Boris Johnson - security is paid for by the centrally funded body that runs the venue.

So since the events that unfolded vs Burnley the following players have been used by the club to try and 'calm the situation down...'

Noble
Zabaleta
Arnautovic
Lanzini
Noble again

And now... Sir Trevor Brooking.
https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/footba ... 01821.html

Something doesn't quite sit right with me the likes of Noble and Brooking 'siding' with the board.

Noble says in his most recent 'message to the fans' :

"negativity can undoubtedly affect players’ concentration and confidence, as I believe it did in the second half against Burnley"

What about the other 30 games when the fans have been up and down the country supporting you?

Noble:
"I can understand the frustrations some of you are feeling. This season has not gone how we’d all hoped it would"

Oh yes Mark its all about the football being poor isn't it, not like we're used to watching shite every year. If he honestly believes that's what its all about then he is seriously out of touch with the fans.

I give Noble a bit of leeway here as he is employed by the owners so he can't just come out and say 'yeah board out, the fucking crooks' but all these little messages leave a sour taste.

Now onto Mr West Ham sir Trevor Brooking.

"I find it difficult to see how anyone could feel that the type of violent demonstration we saw is going to help the club we all love. I always believe fans should be entitled to air their views. If they want to protest, yes, that is their right. But it should not be done when it can adversely affect the performances of Mark Noble and his team-mates."

Well.. we tried to do that Trevor but it was cancelled by the club and something they desperately tried to avoid. Hence why emotions spilled over. It's not the fans fault that the owners have failed to deliver on their promises.

Sir Trevor: "I also know that a lot of hard work is going on behind the scenes to make the stadium feel more like home"

We have been in this stadium nearly 2 seasons now, we had years to prepare the stadium to 'feel like home' for when we were due to move in.
----

Anyone else getting a bit fed up of this propaganda machine? As we've known from this club in recent years 'talk is cheap' - just do it on the pitch.
Blaming the fans and telling them to 'support the team' isn't doing much good, the fans have been supporting you all season so don't make it seem like the 'toxic atmosphere from fans' has got us in this relegation trouble. Inept management, poor tactics, shit stadium, lying, thieving owners - shall i go on?

Dont really matter who cancelled the march, couldnt have marched anyway on my understanding, not legally anyway.

Dont really matter if Sullyedvan doled out early easter pressies, thats speculation anyway, but if he did it wasnt well spent was it?! The dirt is afloat.

Hes getting desperate now hes working on the emotional side , doubt if it will work as he always comes out with clangers.

Do they expect all the fans to spend June and July protesting outside an empty stadium ?

Or will WHUISA be organising illegal marchs and “static protests” outside Sullivan’s Theydon Bois crib whilst he’s sunning himself in Spain for two months ?

Or are they hoping they’ll make a couple of half decent loan signings in the summer and expect everybody to just forget it ?

How on earth can anything be addressed in the summer ?

By the time all the duped ST renewees realise they’ve been had (again) it’ll be too fucking late and all this shit will just start up again ...

West Ham make drastic security changes for Southampton clash as fans plot protests
POLICE will mount a high profile security operation with increased numbers at West Ham tomorrow for their match with Southampton to try to prevent a repeat of the chaotic scenes at the club’s last home game against Burnley.
By Tony Banks
PUBLISHED: 00:13, Fri, Mar 30, 2018 | UPDATED: 00:14, Fri, Mar 30, 2018

At that match on March 10 there were repeated pitch invasions, co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan had to flee the directors box from protesters and 20 fans were later given lifetime bans by the club.

There are at least two more protests against the board planned for tomorrow though and police have confirmed that they will have additional numbers on the ground to prevent trouble.

One protest, by a group calling themselves ‘the WHU Ramblers Association’, is set to start in Stratford Park at lunchtime.

West Ham EXCLUSIVE: From the Boleyn to London Stadium… the true story of fans’ pain
WEST HAM fans have endured an emotional roller coaster since the 2015/16 season when they finally had to face the prospect of leaving the Boleyn Ground.
By Jack Staplehurst / Published 30th March 2018

The area of Upton Park would no longer be home, and the entire aura of community, family, tradition and pre-match rituals was about to change for Hammers fans forever.

Under Slaven Bilic, West Ham enjoyed arguably their best season in the Premier League era when saying goodbye to the Boleyn.

But their seventh-place finish, FA Cup run, final game win against Manchester United and West Ham Way style of football with Dimitri Payet and Co. just makes it all the more frustrating for all involved with how badly life has gone in Stratford.

Recruitment has been a major issue, however, the team as well as the fans have simply not settled in their new surroundings.

West Ham have kept the bulk of their top players minus Payet since the shift across London less than two years go.

Poor results and an alarming slide down the table saw Bilic go and David Moyes come in, but that has not been received well either as ambitions on the pitch have not matched those promised with regard to the move.

West Ham fans have expressed their anger with how the club handled their stadium move ($old a dream given a nightmare)

Anger has been focused towards the board as many fans reached boring point with their grievances in the 3-0 defeat to Burnley before the international break.

And at a pivotal point in the season with relegation a real possibility in the 60,000-seater stadium, it is hard for supporters not to reflect on the past three years ahead of arguably their most important game since moving ground.

West Ham host 18th-placed Southampton on Saturday (3pm), and the fans will likely have a huge say in the outcome.

Defeat would see the Hammers drop into the bottom three with seven games to go and a tough run in to come.

While everything appears to have come to a head now, it is the failings on and especially off the field over the past two years which have caused such animosity.

Out of pure coincidence, a film called ‘Away From Home’ which documented the departure from the Boleyn Ground and migration to the London Stadium is being released ahead of the Saints showdown.

Starsport spoke exclusively with West Ham fan and director David Powles about the film, and he said: “It’s a stroke of good timing to be totally honest.

“The film was shot, edited and produced by myself and Mitch Panayis and is completely self-funded. We started making the film three years ago and literally just finished filming before Christmas 2017. A few weeks after we submitted the film for distribution the atrocious January transfer window and the events at Burnley both took place.

“It’s the perfect time for the film to be seen. As sad as the film is to watch, I think it puts forth some inconvenient truths for the powers that be to digest which can help them act constructively in the future.”

The documentary follows selected fans and business workers around the Upton Park area.

And the film, which West Ham had no control in making or producing, certainly casts a negative light on all the problems faced and heartbreak it has caused for fans to see the Boleyn Ground not only left behind but torn down.

The club, and Karren Brady in particular, maintain their stance that figures show the fans have embraced the new stadium and plenty are on the waiting list ready to pay up when others abandon ship.

On fans whose passion for West Ham or desire to go to games has diminished following the move, Powles added: “I have the upmost sympathy and respect their decisions. Going to the London Stadium is a complete contrast to the Boleyn ground. It’s still all very sterile and bland over the new place for me. I’m yet to feel that almost tangible atmosphere you could almost reach out and grab that was present at The Boleyn ground.

“Ironically you go to West Ham yet it doesn’t feel like West Ham. It’s very alienating. People were very attached to the old place and probably feel like it’s the right time to stop going as it’s just not the same anymore. You can never take them memories away so why ruin them?

“I can’t give up my obsession. But I see why others have.”

At the Southampton game, one major alteration since the scenes against Burnley is set to be the levels of security.

With owners David Sullivan and David Gold still intent on attending despite calls for them to stay away so the focus can remain on what happens on the pitch, more police and restrictions in areas for fans will be in place.

Asked about the fundamental flaws of the London Stadium, compared with the Boleyn Ground, Powles said: “I think the dire stewarding has to be one of the main flaws with the place. It’s obscene. There is so much that the club doesn't control around the ground on a match day which is so detrimental to the experience.

“I also think the lack of familiar faces from Green Street is another flaw. If you put more of the old Street vendors from the old place outside the new place it would help make the place feel more like home. Get the burger vans back, get the new place smelling like the old place.

“It just doesn’t feel like going to the football at present.”

On Southampton’s visit, Powles said: “I anticipate what I would deem a just demonstration will occur before the game. Then I think West Ham supporters will get into the stadium and cheer their team on the best they can and try and create an atmosphere that will help the team win the game.

“The stakes are too high now, relegation is a possibility. The team has to come first. Whilst I enjoyed our stint in the championship, I couldn’t see it as much fun at the London stadium. Plus, the championship has a way of consuming teams. We’ve dodged it a few times, I fear for us if we go down again.”

West Ham's former home, the Boleyn Ground, has since been torn down

Expanding the Boleyn Ground was something Gold in particular made clear was not an option due to the surrounding area of the stadium.

But on whether more should have been done to look at increasing the capacity of the 35,000-seater Boleyn, Powles claimed: “I saw the plans and they were tremendous.

“It’s a much more sensible way of bolstering attendance and keeping the identity of the club intact.

“I’m not looking forward to Spurs unveiling their new ground. They did the right thing as much as I hate to say it.”

West Ham United FC news: Extra security at London Stadium to cost taxpayers £60,000
By talkSPORT - @talkSPORT
Friday, March 30, 2018

The taxpayer will be spending around £60,000 on providing extra security at the London Stadium for West Ham’s upcoming home match against Southampton.

As reported by the BBC, there will be a ‘substantially increased security presence’ at the east London ground, with one of the main aims to prevent fans gathering in front of the directors’ box; the most recent fixture at the London Stadium saw West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold the target of missiles thrown from this area.

Due to the terms of West Ham’s lease of the stadium, the security is paid for by the body that runs the venue, which is centrally funded.
Former Mayor of London Boris Johnson signed off the original 99-year lease to the Hammers, but the incumbent Mayor, Sadiq Khan, wants the Hammers to contribute towards the security arrangements for the remainder of the Premier League season.

West Ham have four more games to play at the London Stadium in 2017/18 after tomorrow’s visit of Southampton, and the Safety Advisory Group have claimed future fixtures could be played behind closed doors if there are a repeat of the scenes from Burnley’s visit to the London Stadium.

As well as fans congregating near the directors’ boss, four supporters were handed life bans after invading the pitch during Burnley’s 3-0 defeat of the Hammers.

The amazing image that highlights West Ham's biggest issue at the London Stadium
West Ham moved into the London Stadium at the beginning of last season
BY KEVIN BEIRNE DEPUTY EDITOR
FRIDAY, 30TH MARCH 2018.

It has been almost two years since West Ham left the Boleyn Ground to move to the flashier surrounds of the London Stadium but the transition has not exactly been smooth.

The Boleyn - or Upton Park as it was known to many - was one of the most daunting stadiums in English football for opposing players to line out at.

The infamous "Chicken Run" housed some of the most passionate fans in all of football as the Hammers supporters were known across Europe for the atmosphere they could create.

But since the move to the London Stadium, the support has not been quite so intense. While at Upton Park fans were almost on the pitch itself, the Irons' new home forces matchgoers to squint from afar.

Just how bad is it? Well this image uploaded to popular fan forum KUMB shoes the scale of the distance between the pitch and the seats compared to West Ham's old stadium and Arsenal's infamously quiet Emirates.

Graeme Howlett
@kumbdotcom
KUMB is the #1 independent #WHUFC website, bringing exclusive news, views and interviews from the club since 1997.
Here's an image of The Boleyn Ground inside The Emirates Stadium inside the Olympic/London Stadium.

Great sight lines, though.

While West Ham fans know all too well just how poor the setup at the new ground can be, it is still a shock to see it put into such stark contrast here.

The Irons' first season and a half in E20 has been dogged by complaints over the structure which was built to house athletics during the 2012 London Olympics.

Just a few days ago, former Hammers boss Slaven Bilic - who was in charge when the club moved home - criticised the lack of atmosphere at the London Stadium and the basic set up.

Speaking to beIN Sport over the weekend, Bilic put it simply when he said: "It isn't a football stadium."

An unremarkable woman who seems to be totally out of her depth. Just another daddy's girl who has milked his contacts, and now the chickens are coming home to roost. She will be forgotten within 3 years, deservedly cast back into obscurity

georgeat4
“The embattled West Ham CEO and Apprentice star says she is a champion of women’s rights”
I think Karren actually said she is a 'champion of a woman's rights', the woman in question being herself.

Aquarius9
Good interviewer, who rightly got under 'madam's' self-important skin. If Brady, doesn't know her chairman is a member of the President's Club then her business skills / knowledge is crap. She is a nasty female, who can't be trusted.

elevengoalposts
She gets by through avoiding direct questions which will reveal her to be an uninformed, disingenuous, vacuous, shallow person with little real talent other than her focusing entirely on self-promotion

ThePhantomMensch
I can't find the bit where the staunch feminist (and Sun columnist) goes to work for the Sunday Sport anywhere - she just goes to work for David Sullivan
If the writer wants to contact me directly I could help out -
David Sullivan owned a lot of businesses that no true staunch feminist (Sun columnist) would really go to work for - I have seen evidence

FatFreddy72
It doesn't matter you wanted to stay and not quit, the fans don't want you, Sullivan and Gold at West Ham. Seriously though, to be in this situation exactly the same 10 years ago at Birmingham City, you and Sullivan and Gold haven't learned.

Dee Emsey
Nasty person, with little or no discernible talent.
Gender doesn't come into it.

Mark Breen
Because she will do pretty much anything for money?

Mattkennington
If only the walls of the Birmingham City boardroom could talk!

Uncle Monty
She should have resigned from West Ham after the way she handled the events leading up to the recent fan protests.

bunnyla
Part of the system, beholden to the Man. But keep on trying to convince yourself that you’re challenging the process Ms Brady.

Scattitude
"I’ve never walked away from anything – and I’m not going to start now"
Classic unwanted limpet statement. Make it sound like you're doing your duty when really the gesture is entirely self serving.
Knowing when to walk away is a valuable skill, one Brady and David's perhaps lack.

Lardons
Of course she won’t walk away. She’s not leaving until she’s made tens of millions flogging West Ham. That’s a long way off..

ConfuciusHeSay
... Yes, she’s a champion of women’s rights in the same way I advocate passionately animal welfare as I tuck into my intensively farmed pork ...

Champion of women's rights?
Garbage.
Actions speak louder than words, and she owes her career to two pornographers and have a job to a guy who threatened to slap a female reporter.
No, she really shouldn't be given the oxygen of publicity.

cacaMBa
Reminds me of Trump. "Never run away from anything..." presumably means I've run from lots of things but I lie about it. The sexy-but-tough businesswoman is a schtick as worn out as.... a proverbially worn-out thing.

Ray Hepburn replying to cacaMBa
A champion of women's rights, whose early career make her head coach for the England hypocrisy team.

YmaOHyd1990
A truly odious character.

afccobden
It can be a sign of strength to walk away at the right time. It can be quite destructive and narcissistic to remove any possibility of not.

jockeylad
Poor little rich girl parlays Daddy's business contacts into a position that shows her where all the bodies are buried - which in turn leads to a "flame-haired Bekka" situation where she knows too much to be pushed out into the cruel world. One imagines that there are tens of little girls out there inspired by that tale of beating the patriarchy. Meanwhile, down here at the peasant's end of things, in 35 years in welding/fabricating if a female had the same skills set as myself she got payed the same rate. We need to push equality relentlessly across gender, race, class, religious beliefs, personal wealth - Ms. Brady is a very poor choice to make the case.
Sleep well in the ("Who the hell wants to get to 48 and think: I only nearly destroyed ONE football club. You don’t really do much in life unless you take risks, push yourself and find your passion. Mine is destroying football clubs") fire.

Ithryn_Luin
Out of her depth in football. Always has been!

TheSentinel
not sure where to start with this odious woman but the article did a pretty good job in highlighting how she has made her money, by basically doing the opposite of what she preaches.

rcourt130864 repling to TimeTravelAgents
Presumably she thought the women appearing in the porn mags were empowering themselves.

fishandart
However hard anyone tries to justify the continuation of the House of Lords their case is lost by Brady's presence in the place just as Knighthoods have ceased to have any meaning since Philip Green was given his. No one who takes a hard look at London can credibly point the finger of corruption at anywhere else on the planet!

Dubidu
She reminds of a more attractive version of someone in my firm whose career can only be explained by aligning herself with the right "sponsors". Will never see a client, will never bring money in (you know, actual business activity that contributes to profit) but somehow she has managed to get all the way up the management chain despite being nothing more than a "cost". She is also of the "lean in" (but not if you threaten my fragile ego) gender equality variety; hollow words that mean nothing to any of the more intelligent females around her.

YinxxXing
‘I’ve never walked away from anything – and I’m not going to start now’ said Karen Brady before WALKING AWAY

ClockworkDemon
For West Hams sake she should break a habit then, what happened to Upton Park? Probabably built on like all the ex London Speedway tracks,.

Patrick Ryan
I don't know why so many people are saying such nasty things about Karren Brady...
The girl done well.

Yeah, she done good.
I can't thank her enough for sentancing West Ham fans to visit that shit stadium for the next 100 years.

Ms Brady, you have consistently lied to the West Ham supporters to the extent that the relationship between the supporters and the board has broken down, irreparably.
She really should walk away this time.

They're a pain in the arse.

rcourt130864
I’m reminded of the line ( repeated) in an Elvis Costello & the Attractions song,’ You must see it’s time that you went’

StoneSlabs
So very evasive when it comes down to brass tacks.
She may well have made loads of money, but I don't see people such as her as being ''successful.'' Being a success means contributing something of value to society.

samaras9
A stolen publicly paid for stadium by a trio of Tory Cronies. Brady, Coe and Johnson. A public scandal.

I thought selling mucky mags does not constitute a business Empire which qualifies a person to run a footie club - apparently it does though

notinamillion
She’s a proper wrong thing. Everyone knows that.

loun
It seems as if she talks the talk but her actions (or lack of) do not reflect what she says. I note that her initial big success was due to Sullivan being a client of her father's...interesting.

Lee Byrnes
She walked away from the rags, sorry Birmingham City when the council wouldn't build them a new stadium for free, and her and her paymasters dumped them on the first clown showing cash, so she appears to be, as the youth say round our way, 'chattin' shit'.

Karren Brady in a nutshell

Onthebackfoot
She is not known as "the first lady of football".
Stupid excuse for journalism. I didn't read further but I'm reasonably sure I didn't miss much.

Topcat1977
Her words, even in this article, show that she either tries to repaint history to suit her own purpose.
She flew in from a a tax haven to vote for a tax credit reduction.
She has made her career through nepotism and in industries that go against gender equality, yet trumpets the exact opposite.
And recently, as this paper reported, she met with hooligans to get them threaten violence on a protest match against her board’s running of the club. Which was a Leading reason for the trouble in ground the other week.
A repugnant person and I fail to see what persons could class her as a role model, despite what a puff piece documentary on channel 5 will try to portray.

desgenerals
Worked with her cabinet buddies and Boris the liar, to procure the London stadium for no money, that will be maintained by the tax payer. I am delighted that in this case corruption isn’t working out for a senior Tory. I loved Upton Park and it’s chicken shack, it was a ‘orrible’ place to go for a result.

Nice article. Selective memory and unreliable statements from West Ham's CEO? Who'd have thought it? Liked the final question on her mayoral ambitions. There's definitely a lot of tension with Sadiq Khan over the London Stadium fiasco. That could run and run.

Going down, going down, going down.

I wouldn’t think less of you honestly , I believe you are a great champion of women’s rights and all that sort of stuff and the history of your employer’s as the publishers of Readers Wives etc is entirely beside the point. But please could you just sell West Ham to someone else ?

Perhaps you should think about the club rather than yourself. The best way you and the dildo brothers can help the club is by selling it.

“What makes her career so fascinating is that, at the same time as championing women’s rights, she has been associated most closely with some of industry’s great unreconstructed dinosaurs...”

By " fascinating", did you actually mean 'selfishly expedient'?
Also, The Apprentice is an absolutely deplorable programme, giving airtime to yet more people with serious personality disorders and, as this newspaper has reported, many of its deals are set-up by researchers prior to being filmed; they are essentially fake!
It's nothing like the vast majority of hard-working small businesses I know and anybody associated with it should be ashamed of themselves.

Well this was a surprise.
It turns out that a woman who is willing and able to do all the things necessary to become a CEO / Board member exhibits very similar traits to a man who is also willing and able to do those things.
Who’d have thought it?

Ironborn123
Laughable spin. I do even wonder if she knows she's doing it. 90% of season tickets have renewed is someone presented as a ringing endorsement of the move to that ridiculous athletics bowl. No Karren, 90% of people don't want to give up the habit of a lifetime often through generations, and tolerate that monstrosity in the middle of nowhere that you've put us in. I have met very few people who like the ground I'd put it as no higher than 5%. And that's nothing to do with nostalgia for Upton Park, or the team not winning; its a soulless, enormous bowl intrinsically unsuited for football. That will never change. You sold us a pup, knowingly.

Money, and the greed for it, is what motivates Brady. There isn't any mystery about her passion at all.

I wonder how her life would have panned out had it not been for this crucial connection. Seems to be a perfect case study for "it's not what you know, it's who you know...".

I genuinely believe the move we made to the stadium is the right one.
Well it was like winning the lottery without even entering it so from a commercial point of view ,which is the only one she has , then they are right.
You cannot blame the owners , following the Olympics it was very clear the stadium was a serious not so much white elephant but a heard of them . No other use could have been found that would even get close to making sense . But the club really got the deal of the century , which like her or not , certainly has something to do with her.

All that goes to show is that things that might be right from a commercial point of view, are not necessarily right, all things considered.
West Ham's identity was tied to Upton Park.

Ironborn123 replying to Guimard
Deal of the century? It's a terrible deal for WHU fans because it's intrinsically unfit for purpose. It's like getting the deal of the century on a boat, when you actually need a car.
Its the deal of the century if you don't give a flying fuck about West Ham fans and wish to maximise the sale value of the club. Like most fanbases WHU is a largely captive audience. It takes zero business acumen to exploit that situation. What you do need, however, is an utterly cynical disregard for those same people.

Wugazi replying to Guimard
Karen, is that you?

Seems to me like Brady is principled to the point where they get in the way of a business deal or career move, then they go out the window.
The writer politely used the term "selective memory", but I prefer the word hypocrisy ..

Really inspirational. It’s unbelievable how arrogant people who have had no end of help and opportunities become towards other people who have, in their eyes; “not achieved as much as they have”
It’s laughable.

Just to make a point re: factual accuracy regarding Karren Brady having gone on to study for ‘A’ levels at a formerly all-boys school. When she was there, the number of girls in the sixth form were around 30 not six. The reason I know this for a fact is that I was two years ahead of her and when I was there we numbered around 15 total in both years of the sixth form. The next year’s intake of girls - the year below mine - (and the following year’s) grew in number exponentially. It’s a small point but it does reflect on Karren Brady not necessarily being as pioneering as a female as she may wish to present herself.

TheJoyOfEssex
I'll never forgive her and Birmingham City for poaching Barry Fry when Southend had a real shot at the premier league.
It was no real consolation when BCFC were relegated the same season.

HollywoodPass replying to TheJoyOfEssex
But it was a very good indication of her unerring ability to profit from any form of success while simultaneously cheapening and ultimately destroying it.
She has achieved nothing, built nothing.

TyroneBlack
Didn't she fly back from a holiday or something to vote in favour of benefit cuts?

Yes, vile person that she is.

ObiWanKenobiForce
If only 'success' to her was defined as making the Hammers a 'next level' club.

Ironborn123 replying to ObiWanKenobiForce
In fairness the Championship could be construed as the next level. These people managed to relegate Birmingham three times; that's how good they are at running football clubs from a sporting perspective.

Quite right remarkable how Karren stepped in to run Sullivan's porn empire when he was banged up in the Scrubs for living off immoral earnings, all credit to her.

Please don’t walk away, Brady.
Please stay and complete the job you’ve started so well.
Keep talking delusional bullshit about a “world class stadium” and a “brilliant experience.”
Keep screwing the club by loaning it money so that you and the Dildo Bros making millions in interest.
Keep bringing your cheapskate quick-fix mindset to the club’s transfer and management issues.
Keep talking out of your rump about the Champions League and how you’ve got one over Spurs, you clown.
Keep bringing your “business savvy” and “marketing expertise” to bear — the same skill set you brought to Birmingham City (and where are they these days?).
No, please don’t walk away until you’ve finished the job you’ve so clearly started: the relegation, impoverishment and utter humiliation of West Ham United.
Because only then will you cut your losses, sell up, and let the fans begin to crawl from the smouldering wreckage — and think about rebuilding what they’ve so clearly lost.

Brightersideoflife
Having had the misfortune of working for Ms Brady a long time ago I can honestly say she is one of the most vile people I have ever had the lack of pleasure of meeting. Condescending, shouty, self absorbed & completely looked down on those that worked for her including being sworn at. I have since spoken to other people that have come in to contact with her in other environments and none of these had anything nice to say about her either.

2miners replying to Brightersideoflife
And the men ?
Tell us a bit more - are you still there no need for a name

Brightersideoflife replying to 2miners
Was told to F off out of “her” boardroom when I was getting it ready for her & her cronies as I was a mere mortal. This won’t go down well with some, but the Gold brothers were pleasant & actually quite nice to the staff, Brady & O’sullivan were a breed apart.

‘I’ve never walked away from anything – and I’m not going to start now’
Perhaps you should think seriously about whether this attitude is for the greater good. It's not all about you, at least it shouldn't be.

haringey1955
Lets face it , you are way out of your depth . You have demonstrated a complete lack of integrity on many occasion . The fact you fail to understand the subtleties and complexities of the challenges faced by a premier football club director has nothing to do with your sexuality . You lack real ability , and your ego has taken you into a world where your failings are being exposed to 58,000 fans and the rest of the football world.

cmca200
So she's an inveterate liar with a conveniently tenuous grip on her memory, a blatant two faced hypocrite and secured her role as CEO of Birmingham City at the age of 23 through the direct or indirect nepotism and influence of her father who was a close business associate of the owner David Sullivan - sound about right?

MyRandomThoughts
She is no feminist she is a hypocrite she's an abuser who earns a living off the backs of less fortunate women, a madam at best who will kiss the ass of whoever is paying her most.

Janelaverack replying to MyRandomThoughts
Correct.

Persianwar
So by the time she left Birmingham 75 per cent of senior management were women.
Just like to check, is that a good or bad thing? If fewer than 50per cent are women then that’s bad, but 75 per cent women is presented as ‘good’. Why is this exactly?

MFC_Lion
Will she be attending the match v Southampton as Gold and Sullivan are reported to be?
I’m worried that their presence will insense the fans leading to further crowd trouble and West Ham playing 1 or more home games behind closed doors.
The lack of a hostile fan base baying for blood could have a seriously positive effect on the West Ham players and jeopardize what had looked like nailed on relegation.

MyRandomThoughts
Considering her age she looks dreadful, I mean like she has really been living it up, but I guess that's the norm in the depraved circles she orchestrates and frequents, I mean seriously, she's not far off the female Shane McGowan.
And he would be offended by that, she's no wolf in sheep's clothing she's not even a milf in drag.
She's made a career of making money out of how women look, she deserves no quarter.

haringey1955
By the way Karen , Spurs are doing it the right way . The chairman has a very good brain . Perhaps you should rent the stadium out to the circus . You could be chief clown

BobinDay
She's never walked away from a good pay day that's for sure.
She is a parasite on society, a talentless hypocrite who ruins people's lives...apart from that , lovely woman.

Hostilius
It's not what you know, it's who you know...
Keep following the money (and fame) Karren. You're a man in a mans world.

JohnAldridgesUSARant
“I don’t want to talk about West Ham,” says Brady.
That's because she knows, and we all know, that even that pitch invading, corner flag wielding wazzock, who proudly held said corner flag above his head like a triumphant medieval knight, could do a better job at running West Ham United London than Brady, Sullivan and Gold ever could.

Ironborn123 replying to JohnAldridgesUSARant
The point of that flag planting gesture was that it reflected West Ham fan's protests against the Bond Scheme in 1992 (essentially being asked to stump up £100's for the right to buy a season ticket). At the height of that a guy got out of the crowd, uprooted the corner flag, stuck it in the centre circle sat down and refused to move. Cue hundreds joining him. For older West Ham fans what the guy did against Burnley was immediately recognised as being symbolic.
He's been going to West Ham for 49 years if he's to be believed in interviews, and had no illusions that he would receive a life ban for what he did (duly confirmed by the wonderful Brady). People like him are the club, not this ersatz wannabee Thatcher.
I'm genuinely surprised you lend yourself to such a cringing puff piece, right down to the photo staring determinedly into the distance, all steely eyed resolve. The business acumen required to exploit a fanbase is broadly similar to that of a drug dealer who exploits the dependencies of others. In any other industry the treatment of 'customers' in the way WHU fans have been treated would see your business evaporate overnight.

JohnAldridgesUSARant replying to Ironborn123
I agree with you, and I know the corner flag thing was a reference to the anti-Bond scheme sentiment which the West Ham fans rightly protested. That was a dark time for the club and I remember club legend Billy Bonds, who spoke out against the (unfortunately named, for him) Bond scheme was treated pretty shoddily by the club thereafter from what I remember. I have a lot of sympathy for West Ham fans who have been sold a pack of lies by these 3 charlatans. But the corner flag wielding was still quite funny.
